FOUND IN TRANSLATION (a collaborative of organizations including Soulistic Playhouse, Center for Independent Artists, Tru Art Speaks, In the Belly and AtlanticRock.com) recently received a grant to produce a spoken word performance for Minneapolis Mosiac, June 10 and 11.
Each year Minneapolis MOSAIC commissions a lasting artistic work, which celebrates the diversity of the city and serves as a commemorative representation of the project.
Using Minneapolis ‘ theme of Many Worlds, One Night, we are looking to unite ideas and worlds often perceived as ‘lost in translation’. To that end, we are inviting Minneapolis-based spoken word & multidiciplinary performers to join us in exploring and redefining how communities communicate despite language and cultural barriers. Our final performance piece will be a visual and spoken mosaic, incorporating spoken word, drumming, vocal incantations and movement.
The organizing artists — Ibé, Tish Jones, Mankwe Ndosi, Ed Bok Lee and isis– are currently seeking participation from other artists throughout the Twin Cities to create an authentic mosaic of cultures and languages.
